Motovun area
Best for turning the ride into a destination stay. The old railway runs below the hill, while the town itself gives you evening atmosphere and access to the wider central-Istria landscape. It is especially strong for a slower trip combining cycling and gastronomy.
Grožnjan area
Best for immediate access to the heritage-rich northern section and for riders who want to start near tunnels and viaducts. Remember the old station sits below the town, so exact accommodation location matters.
Livade and Mirna valley
Best for logistics and route access, particularly if you want to connect the northern heritage section with Motovun. It can also work well as a transfer or lunch point.
Coast / Slovenia
Best if your broader trip is coastal and Parenzana is a single day within it. You gain smoother cycle infrastructure and hotel choice, but lose the immersive inland-Istria evening.
