Parenzana, properly explained

A route with history, terrain and a sense of place.

Parenzana was a 123.1 km narrow-gauge railway linking Trieste and Poreč. Today its corridor is a cross-border cycling and walking route. The Croatian section is largely gravel and passes some of the line’s most atmospheric engineering and landscapes.

Historic railway and present cycling route are not the same measurement. We keep those datasets separate throughout the guide so a 123.1 km historic line is never confused with Istria Bike’s current 80 km Croatian Trail 19.
